What's up guys!? I've been following this board for a very long while now but just have finally registered. I know this question have been posted many times but can't find the post anymore. I have already beaten Baldur's Gate II: SoA but could not seem to dual or multi class. Why is this the case? I reached my experience cap already and thought it was related to the characters level but it seems to be not the case. I have read on this board somewhere something about the stat requirements such as strength and constitution for example. Can someone refresh this for me? Does it also have something to do that I manually changed my stats when creating my character at the beginning of the game? My character:

Male Human Archer Level 17
Chaotic good
Strength: 18/78
Dexterity: 18
Constitution: 14
Intellegence: 10
Wisdom: 14
Charisma: 10

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

What class are you dualling into? If you're human you can't multiclass, only non-humans can do that.

First of all, WELCOME!
Secondly, the Archer can't be Dual classed. Here is a list. Find the kit/class on the left, then look at the numbers following. 1=Can be Dualled, 0=Cannot.
The numbers corrospond with these classes in this order: Fighter, Claric, Mage, Thief, Druid, Ranger
If you don't see your kit, or if it's all 0's, it can't be dualled

MAGE 1 1 0 1 0 0
FIGHTER 0 1 1 1 1 0
CLERIC 1 0 1 1 0 1
THIEF 1 1 1 0 0 0

i think archer can be dualled to clerics only, assuming you have the race and ability requirements. no dual to mage or thief, i tried that.

This could be true, but I got this DUALCLASS list directly from the DUALCLASS.2da file in the game. In fact, I copy and pasted it directly. So, if you CAN dual to a cleric, I don't know why.

First of all I would like to say thanks for the help guys. The list was really helpful. I don't see an archer up there so I guess it can't be dual class. I think I am going to play Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal now. I don't know should I start a new character from scratch or resume my character playing the expansion. Any suggestions for me? If I do decide to start a new character what would be a great fighting tank? Thank you very much for helping me out!

I opted to start a new game from the beginning of SoA so that when I beat it, it goes straight into ToB. If you do it this way, make sure you have the patch.
