Can Tooth problem cause dizziness?

I have a cavity in the back of my left side on the top part in my mouth. 2 Nights ago, I started getting a bad toothache, and then, last night, I became so dizzy, I threw up. Today, the dizziness is much less, but Walking makes me still kinda dizzy, and my stomach upset.

Never happened, I'm going to the Tooth driller [img]graemlins/hehe.gif[/img] next week, but I want to ask you--can a toothache cause this dizziness?

Well, if the tooth is beginning to absess, I think it can cause you to get very ill. When are you going to the dentist? You should probably go sooner than later. Particularly if it is hurting all the time now----it sounds like more of an abcess. I have had cavaties, they usually jusst hurt when you eat something hot or cold or chew on the tooth.

Well I'm not a doctor, so can't say for sure of course, but I wouldn't think a bad tooth would give you vertigo (dizziness). You may have a virus. I had one about 8 years ago, lasted a few weeks, only symptom was vertigo. Sometimes massive vertigo LOL. I'd be laying in bed, and just turning my head to the left or right slightly on the pillow would sent my head spinning. I remember waking up one morning and opening my eyes, looking at the dresser against the wall near the foot of the bed, and my head started spinning backwards and it made it appear the dresser flew up the ceiling (seemed the vertigo went all ways, left, right, up down). Was totally weird. I went to the doctors, and they didn't really know what it was, gave me some pills called Antivert (they sucked didn't work). I only later figured it must have been a virus, because I found out a neighbor had the same thing around the same time.

If the pain is severe it canmake you dizzy, I had that problem when I got hit in the jaw by a baseball one time.

It's not hurting hardly at now. (only 2 nights ago) when I woke up, it was gone almost.

I don't think the cavity is that bad, but I sure will go see the dentist next week (earliest he can see me) [img]smile.gif[/img]

Last night, it started with a really cold sweat, then the dizziness. today, it's been a LOT better, except when I walk up sometimes. I think it's better now--BUT nighttime is when things are worse. So I am knocking on wood.

My stomach is still kinda upset, but nothing near last nights episode. nasty!

It could be a virus, but I dunno. I rarely get sick (1999 was the last time I was sick). But who knows.

Teeth can actually cause alot of problems that can appear all over the body. It seems that when Mother Nature was designing human beings, she thought it would be a laugh to hotwire our teeth into everything :S

Anyway, as my sweetie has alrady said, it's probably time you gave the dentist some business.

Dan, if you have an infection or abscess under the tooth, there could also be a secondary ear infection. There is fluid in the inner ear which, thanks to gravity, helps us to tell which way up we are - and if your ear is infected this can get mucked up, resulting in dizziness.

Alternatively, do you know for sure you have a cavity? Ear infections can also cause toothache. But anyway, it sounds as if your ear may be somehow affected.

Ziroc, your dizzyness may also be caused by exhaustion, if you are lacking sleep due to your toothache the night before.

It can also be caused by anxiety. A few years ago, I have suffered from severe fits of cold sweats, shivering and dizzyness - they were due to stress from external events, and before I knew it my anxiety was the cause, it kept getting worse, since it was feeding itself - the more I was not feeling well, the more anxious I got.

Dan, if you have an abscess, it can cause dizziness, especially if it is in the maxilla (lower part of the skull that holds teeth). Anything close to the vestibular system (inner ear) can cause dizziness. Have you had any cold symptoms,lately?

An update!

Went to the Dentist, and he said that one of my back teeth is infected. So He wrote a script for antibiotics and I'll take them for 10 days then go back for a .....da da daaaaa "Root Canal" Da daaaaa DAAAAAAAAAAA! [img]smile.gif[/img]

Fun!! Well, BELIEVE ME, I would even have it PULLED If need be--that is how horrible the dizzy spells are and sick feeling in my stomach. just horrible.

Anyway, I should be better in a day of so! Wee! I can then finish my Comic and the front page of IW Forum [img]smile.gif[/img] .
