A couple of friends and I were thinking of having a poker night. We're all poor students so not ridiculous money, just a few beers, maybe few pizzas one night a week/fortnight/month/whatever.

Then I got thinking - What about other games?

I played 'Bastard Brag' with the parents over Christmas, which was fun (if I have forgotten the rules a bit *blush*)

What games do you guys play, be it with friends, family, competition? And I'm not talking video games...card, board, etc.

I recently acquired a few DVD games. Family Fued, and Harry Potter Scene it. I was surprised I actually found these DVD games fun. Family fued you have to keep track of score as is better for 4 to 6 players, and if you have scene it on TV well it is pretty much the same. The Scene it DVD is actually quite fun even if there are only two of you, and is similar to Trivia Pursuit in that there is a board and card questions with categories, as well as the DVD questions were they show a clip than ask a question or have something missing from a clip. There is also a tie breaker series of questions, which may involve anything from Paper, Rock, sissers to a staredown, alot of fun, and this was something I was not expecting. I assume all these Scene it DVDs are similar. I think a Star Wars, or LotRs Scene it series could be good.

If you like strategy than A game of thrones and its expansions are quite enjoyable.

A big game of Texas Hold 'em, followed by some Cheat or Chase the Ace to relax.

I play Cranium... and I've never lost a game. I also enjoy poker- 7 card stud is my game of choice. I like Hold'em, but I'm not the biggest fan because it's all anyone knows how to play and I thus get sick of it. I also like pictionary, taboo, and charades. Anything that lets me perform or use my vocabulary is okay in my book.
