One word of caution: You WILL want your video card to be as close to the top of the supported card list as possible. NWN2 is very unforgiving on low end system!
If you aren't above the recommended system with a high end video card, you might think about giving the game a pass. If you fall below the minimum system specs - DEFINITELY give the game a pass. You will be frustrated beyond belief. If you're unsure whether your system will be able to handle NWN2 or not, test your hardware at the System Requirements Lab and see if you meet the requirements they test for. The tests are at http://www.srtest.com Recommended: 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor 1 GB System RAM ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, 256 MB, or more, video card Minimum System Requirements: Windows XP (Windows 2000 added by Obsidian. Atari doesn't "know that", through now) 512MB System RAM 2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor Hard Disk Space: 4.9 GB free hard disk space (twice that for unpacking space) 128MB Direct3D, Dx9 (hardware-compatible) video card and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver; Minimum: ATI Radeon 9700 Pro or NVidia Geforce 6600 DirectX 9.0c software (included) DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card DVD-ROM Drive speed: 6X speed or faster Keyboard, Mouse Supported Video Card Chipsets: ATI X1950 series ATI X1900 series ATI X1800 series ATI X1650 series ATI X1600 series ATI X850 series ATI x800 series ATI x700 series ATI x600 series (Ouch - the Vanilla card is very slow) ATI Radeon 9800 series (Amended) 9800 Pro, 9800 XT only ATI Radeon 9700 series (Amended) 9700 Pro only NVIDIA GeForce 7950 series NVIDIA GeForce 7900 series NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series NVIDIA GeForce 7600 series NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series (Ouch - the Vanilla card is very slow) Go to the Bioware NWN2 forums (yeah I know its an Obsidian game) and peruse the posts on system specs and problems and compare your system with what other users are encountering. FWIW, the game runs just fine on my system - in fact it runs great. I've got a 3.2 P4, 1 gig ram, and an nVideo 7800 GT. No issues at all with lag and I've had to do very little video setting tweaking.

What's your current system look like? here's some more details on the video cards: This was originally from Obsidian, found at Bioware's NWN-2 Forum (I had to add a couple of cards that they skipped right over, and I reordered them to suit NWN-2, at least, IMO on shader 2.0 speed), sorting order "in flux", still, and I've removed the several cards that the Prerelease Toolset named as no longer supported (although they failed to remove the Nforce6100 and FX 5500 for some reason). Supported Video Cards: (Fastest) + Radeon X1950 - ATI Radeon X1900 series + Geforce 7950 - ATI Radeon X1800 series - NVIDIA GeForce 7900 series - ATI Radeon X850 series - NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series - ATI Radeon X800 series - NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT - NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT - NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS - NVIDIA GeForce 6800 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Recommended Video Level (or better, upward) - ATI Radeon 9800 XT - ATI Radeon X1650 XT - NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS - ATI Radeon 9800 Pro - ATI Radeon X1600 Pro + ATI Radeon X1300 XT - ATI Radeon X700 series - NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT - NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT - ATI Radeon 9700 Pro - ATI Radeon 9700 - ATI Radeon 9800 SE - ATI Radeon 9500 Pro - ATI Radeon 9600 XT - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra - ATI Radeon X600 Pro - NVIDIA GeForce 6600 - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 =========================== Low Quality & on downward from here - NVIDIA GeForce 6500 series - ATI Radeon X600 - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 LE, XT - ATI Radeon 9500 - ATI Radeon 9600 Pro - ATI Radeon 9600 - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Current FX Minimum - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 LE (Probably should've been removed -- very slow) - ATI Radeon X550 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = I just can't believe that any of these next EVER belonged on any "supported" list - ATI Radeon 9600 SE - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (Probably should've been removed -- very slow, and the 5600 was removed) - ATI Radeon 9550 (Probably should've been removed -- very, VERY slow, and its twin, the X300, is now gone) - NVIDIA GeForce 6100 series ** ( Slowest ) ** From that list, you can see that your FX 5200 has fallen off the bottom of the supported list and would have been very slow anyway. Go for a system with a video card in the upper list and you'll be fine. [ 12-31-2006, 05:58 PM: Message edited by: Micah Foehammer ]

Maybe a ram upgrade but that's not essential. How about Hard drive size and Operating system (XP Pro with SP2?)?

Not sure if not having SP2 will be an issue or not. Oh yeah, one last question - DVD-Rom or CD player? Just so you know, there are some issues with secureRom on this game. I haven't had ANY problems but a fair number of people have.
