I used Jaheira. First time round, I wasn't sure what to expect and got narrowly beaten. Second time, I summoned a fire elemental and a woodland nymph. The Nymph paralysed Faldorn and then my elemental gave her a few hot hugs while I rapped the back of Faldorn's neck repeatedly with the quarterstaff. Nice.

Are we talking about Faldorn? Beating her is the one and only purpose of Cernd's existence in the game. Just buff him up with Haste and turn him into a Greater Werewolf and he should take her out easily. All she could do was summon insects which was futile as Cernd wasn't casting spells anyway and the battle was over in about 40 seconds. Even if she casts Ironskin he'll wear her down.

Friends, many thanks for your great suggestions. I went straight to the Grove to try them out, but could not find Cernd. Could not find him at Trademeet, either. So I went back to the Sewers, where Jaheira was employed as a stone statue - she was gone! So I guess I'll never know...!

How could you not find him? Where did he go? Was he originally in your party?

Well, I met him the first time, of course, but as he kept getting killed, we split up. If I recall correctly, he said he would hang out around the grove but I can't find him.
