Still fighting with my art friends...

Can there be a way to distinct manga art from other types? (e.g traced to actual scratching out the ink.) I've been drawing animae for a long time (after flunking human form in art 501) and my buddies still say I stink (and I bet hands down that they trace0, and my nephew (a manga junkie) and my sister say that's it's the real deal, just different style. So, give me some answer folks, before someone ends up on the 10:00 news.

Heck yes there are lots of different styles. You watch anime right? Come on now you'd be crazy not to notice that a lot of shows have *completely* different art styles.

It seames that each artist has his own style when it comes to specifics in the form. There are some general things that stay the same though like all the emotions shown in the eyes, eye brows. The flaming eyes. Oversized eyes generaly but not allways. Cool looking clothing and odd hair and eye color combinations. But generaly it varies as from aritst to artist so your correct. Best ask DeathKiller though he is really good at drawing anime

Anime is based on the artist mimicking other artists and adding his own unique touch, there is no "school" per say of learning how to draw manga...

you do do what you feel like doing... Self teaching

though I can offer some advice...

Hold your pencil in between the middle finger and ring finger and use your thumb to coordinate, when you can draw a straight line like that, then you're ready to frame a face and maybe do some hair...
