Have you tried the click here button to see if there are any tips for it? If it's been a common thing, then Windows will have a data base on it, with possible solutions.

er... whats WMI? does this message come only with WMI program or others as well?

EDIT: you do know that this message is simply the XP equivalent of the "this program has performed an illegal operation" message. It could really mean anything.

WMI stands for "Windows Management Instumentation"

If you click on the "click here" link and get some screenshots of some error codes, I may be able to help you out.

Ok, it does give this long code sometimes. It seems to relate to memory.

I did a quick Google of the phrase "WMI has encountered a problem and needs to close", and found only 20 results so it was not too hard to look through. Other people have had something similar happen and a couple of those websites actually offer help in fixing the problem, but like Hive said, you will need to find out what the problem actually is in detail before you know what needs to be done.

You can use Howie's Quick Screen Capture to easily take a picture for Hive.

Most of the google links I've found document it as being caused by a virus - do you have a decent updated virus scanner?
