Well, it seems to be going ok...the bios detects it and the startup process too...but the Windows refuses to asign it a letter!! Grr,I'm going to use it as a slave, at first at leastand I think I got the damn jumpers right...at least they are like the pics on the HD are. Damn Windows...it even shows up in the hardware profile, but not in the My Computer folder...anyone knows whats going on?

Oh and 20 GB's was all I could afford... but it sure beats my 6.4 gb I currently have.

Are you going to use the 6.4 as the master?

ok you'll have to fdisk the drive to partition it. then windows will give it a letter. also make sure it is formatted. at some point in the near future you'll want to redo that so the big one is hte master. you want your fastest drive to be the first one. having the slow one as the master will slow down the 20g.

Okey thanks, I did get it to work, and windows formatted it, but only at 8gbs. So ok I'll now start the scary part...format it with FDisk and copy the windows installation over...?...Is it just that simple?

As far as 8GB vs. 20, you may have to partition the hard drive to get your computer to recognize the rest of the 20GB drive.

I don't think it's that simple. If you just copy the Windows files over, odds are you will miss something (hidden files or such). My suggestion, if you want a clean install, and can manage this, is to disconnect the current drive, boot from a floppy or the CD-Rom and install Windows fresh on the new drive. A fresh install can get a bit complicated, it may be more than you wish to try. Others might have better suggestions.
