Dude 77, you have my sympathies. I know how sad I was when my great grandmother died a few years ago. The family missed it's matriarch, but we (all 60+ grand children and 100+ great grandchildren and a few great-great) have now become more of a part of each other's lives. When Grandma Peggy was dying and after her death, our family started emailing each other, many of us not even knowing eachother all that well. We now have a family newsgroup that we post to about everything you can imagine. So, her legacy was that her passing brought her family closer together. I hope you're able to take comfort in knowing she's up there looking down on you and smiling, I'm sure. Also, take comfort in knowing that even though she's gone, her memory will live on in you and your other family members. If you're able to, a good way to help you feel better is to talk with other family memebers about all the happy things you remember about her. Sharing stories is a great way to pass on the memories of those we love.
*hug* for you in your time of loss.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss, Dude 77. I wrote this poem for Gammit and Galadria after they recently suffered similar losses. I hope you don't mind me using it again for you Gramma.

How do you say "Goodbye" to the one that raised you from a child?
How do you let go of someone so kind, loving, tender, and mild?
She brought you into this world, nurtured you, and watched you grow.
She guided you, cared for you, and taught you everything you know.
During the storms of life, she was your anchor, as solid as stone,
How can someone who was so strong now be gone?

The pain in your heart is so deep, will this wound ever heal?
Time is supposed to ease the pain, but you don't think it will.
A piece of your soul is gone and nothing will ever fill the emptiness there,
Does God know how bad you hurt? Does our Great Creator even care?
God does know your pain, for He had to watch His own son die.
And even God had to turn His back, so noone would see Him cry.

God knows your grief and His infinite love will see you through.
And in this time of deep despair, He has a message for you.
Your loved one isn't gone, she has simply moved on.
To enter the Gates of Heaven and be greeted by the Son.
As He wraps her in His arms and warmly says "Welcome Home".

My condolences to you and your Family Dude, just remeber the good times and the heart felt hugs and hellos of yesterday. Cherish the ones that you have left and let them know that you cherish, it will be hard in this time of grief, but life moves on and it teaches us many thing's. Be strong anad remeber the lessons of your Great Great Grandmother, she probably saw many hard ships in her 96 years and yet she lived that long due to the lessons of life and the love for her family and the blessings of God.

Be safe, know love and give it freely.
