What is it about? I am a Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 player and I am thinking about getting IWD2 and maybe 1. What is the story for IWD, is it like Baldur's Gate, are there a lot of sub quests like BG?

I found IWD better than BG, and IWD2 is most likely gonna be better than both

Neither IWD 1 or IWD 2 will have joinable NPCs, so you have to create your entire party. Both games have substantial numbers of side quests.
And in a similiar fashion to the BG1 / BG2 series, IWD 1 has the same basic character classes available as BG 1, while IWD 2 adds a bunch of new races and new classes. The ONE BIG difference between all four games is that IWD2 will use the 3E rules instead of 2E rules for AD&D. Personally, I think both games (IWD 1 and IWD 2) are worth getting. ANd if you DO buy IWD 1 try to get a copy of the Heart of WInter expansion as well! For what its worth I just pre-ordered my CE copy of IWD 2 today! WAHOO!

59.99 US$ plus S&H expedited delivery direct from Interplay (Collectors Edition which is ONLY available thru IP on-line store that was NOT their choice btw - their distributor didn't want to release a CE so IP is doing it on their own)
Contents include: Spiral bound manual Full color cloth map Four (4) high quality character cards Bonus disc Ice Dice Black Isle Studios notepad Icewind Dale and Black Isle Studios stickers I got it for the manual (which will not be spiral bound with the regular edition), the map (love that graphic stuff) and the Bonus CD (more areas? merchants? npcs? ... hmmm, no one is saying ...) here's the link: http://icewind2.blackisle.com/collectors.html [ 04-18-2002, 06:49 PM: Message edited by: Micah Foehammer ]

I am shivering in anticipation, but I suppose I'll just chill out until then. (can it get any worse? )
Dragonwolf, only the selected elite of the CRPG world are allowed to own IWD2; it is going to be an extremely limited release of only 2500 copies worldwide. I already have mine and Micah is waiting for his now; we were selected to be on the list of the "haves" a couple of months ago. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Not really. It won't be released until next month.
