Lol!

I have a funny story about what you are talking about!

I had won like a week of free tanning bed visits, and for the first three days, I went in and was getting a normal tan, underwear on.

Now, anybody going to tanning beds know that you start at 10 minutes, and work up to 20 minutes. On day four, I was at 20 minutes, but for some stupid reason, decided to go all the way!
I...hurt for a long time after that...

I just dont think that is very fair!

Um...you are right, Lavi...this statement is DEFINITELY trouble-provoking.

1) Larry made a gaffe, and apologized...SEVERAL TIMES. I never saw Istaron or 250 do anything like that, even though they were given ample opportunity to do so.

2) The comment 250 made (which is what I assume you are referring) was not "supposedly" blasphemous..it was COMPLETELY blasphemous. He was given the opportunity to retract what he said, and not only did he not, he openly defied the two moderators (one of which was me) in question. THAT is what landed him the suspension, NOT the blasphemy.

3) The reason I HAVEN'T stepped in sooner on this issue is that I've been unable to. I've been working, and it was a very demanding day; I've hardly had a chance to even glance at the boards, even though I've had several messages and PM's about this subject.

If I were you, I'd strongly reconsider the *wisdom* of posting what you did.

P.S. If you insist on using that cyan color for your posts, at least do us the courtesy of closing the tag!

OT Response: 250 was suspended for two weeks. He has also decided to take a temporary LOA for personal reasons, mainly related to RL issues.

I think he got suspended for a bit due to comments made in a thread on religion.

EDIT: Whoops, Saz beat me to it.

Larry and Sazerac, and anyone else who is in this thread.....

As I have said and agreed with, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Now if I might clarify, once again, what I became upset over...

*Not* the 'offensive slang word', oddly enough. I tend to disregard such language as words are used differently in most cultures and so make allowances. (I still use the word 'queer' in the original meaning of odd or strange.)

I took umbrage at Larry's remark that insinuated (quite blatantly, I even quoted it) that people who frequented a nude or clothing optional beach were of low moral fiber and perverse in some way!!! *THAT* was what I was upset about. And that set of comments has been totally disregarded by Larry even though they were quoted back *and* pointed out as offensive.

I'm not trying to be obstructive, but I do feel such a statement to be offensive to the general populace. If his religious convictions preclude public nudity, I applaud him for standing with his convictions. But to imply that those of us who may not believe the same stringent rules as himself to be perverse and of a danger to anyone else............is wrong somehow.

!!!Oh!

I was so involved in trying to clear up the first post that I made, I did not realize that you were referring to the second one until now!

I am at work, and my boss has caught me on here no less than three times! I also have an accounting exam tonight in school, that I am supposed to be studying for, as well as problems with print jobs at work. I cannot convince you that I did not realize that you were not referring to the word that I missused...I did not take time enough to read your post well, so I missed the idea that you were portraying. I know you won't believe that, but now that I have seen this last post of your's...I will try to clear it up as well.
(~sigh~)
I will try to make myslef clear on the point I wanted to make, long ago...but used the wrong vocabulary.

Okay. I am the antagonist for Nude beaches. The originator wants to hear good things and bad things. I can only give my view of the bad, as I know no good in them. I know that I have been taught that those beaches are not a place to be in.
Example: I do not drink alcoholic beverages, so why would I go to a bar? I might be tempted to drink. I am told in my religion that drinking is bad, and if I went to a bar...I would be "inviting" trouble to happen. I have been told that pornagraphy is addicting and dangerous, and does not let you get away. Our church teaches strongly against porn sites on the net and such. One of the leaders in our church a few years ago wanted to see the sites for himself to be able to help the younger single adults understand the danger therein. He visited some porn sites and was embarrassed at what he saw. Yet, he could not find a way to teach the kids to stay away from them...long story made short...he visited them enough to begin to like what he saw...
He lost his family to divorce and his church membership...That is a story we have all been made aware of to teach us of the dangers of today's society. There are many poisons in the world that will ruin a man or a woman.
Nude beaches...in my church is preached against. I know and have faith that it is not a place for me to go.
My problem is that I preached that too strongly here. I respect my wife, and I have a litle girl, who you all know...has beautiful eyes and a bright future. To think of my little girl wanting to get mixed up in a crowd that goes to such places is scary for me, a father. I know that she can be a great person, much respected in the community, and she has a wonderful future ahead of her.
That is why I speak so strongly against the portraying of our bodies in a public place. I would DIE if I found out that my little girl was on some porn site on the web. I would literally go insane and not know how to care about anything in the world from there on.
Is there no mother or father out there that is equally afraid of this?
My words were harsh, and I have no jurisdiciton over the members of Ironworks, whether they go or do not go to a nude-related place. I do not even care if any IW member visits a porn site, or watches such movies, etc. But when asked in a debate thread my thoughts on the subject...everyone should expect that I am going to speak harshly against it. Not to anyone here...and I certainly have not attacked any certain member...but in the general term of "is it right or not"... and I say NO. MagiK wanted a "yes" man and a "no" man. I am the "no" man.
I have to say no. I have to let everyone know that I detest such places. I do not detest anyone here...because you can do what you want. Hey! MagiK asked for the Cons., right? He wanted to see who thought good of them, and who thought poorly of them. Maybe I took it too far, like Cloudy said previously.
I promise to not be so strong minded in the future, if I am allowed the opportunity.

I can see why you got riled but I also read what he posted and didnt read it the same..too me it just seemed like he had been...misinformed, I never thought to take it as a personal affront, since Larry has usually been a decent sort and not one to purposely lashed out at....

I was feeling guilty for having been part of so many heated and controvetial threads latley and wanted to open up a light, fun topic never in my widlest dreams did I expect this to go the way it did..>I apologize to everyone for the negative turn of events.
