Having saved all my pennies up I managed to buy a new p.c., one without the staring handle on the side. Loaded s.o.a. and guess what,
Correct,you clever people, will not work could this be due to the fact its windows XP ? game appears to have loaded correctly. Please help very close to wrist slashing time.

WinXP does some funny things to BG2 as it's not an official OS that Bioware supports. Having said that you can tweak your config settings. I'd suggest switching off EAX and 3D, that fixed things for me.

XP is great for BG2. It will play it the same as 2K would. You guys must have some other problem.

Xp is just a dumbed down version of NT and WIN 2000. So pretty much throw any drivers you've had and find new ones.

WinXP is essentially Win2000 with a facelift and some new internet toys (that're are of dubious value since they've already been exploited by hackers).

BG2 works fine with Win2000 and XP. I would look at your video and sound drivers... odds are that one or the other needs an update. If you can't find XP drivers than use the latest Windows 2000 drivers, the device driver model for the two OS's is identical.
