what controls the effectiveness of a cleric turning undead?
I'm working through the Shadow Dungeon in the Umar Hills with Aerie as an 11th level cleric, & she's as much use as a chocolate fireguard! She just hangs around on the outskirts of battles [with Turn Undead on!] - it's like fighting with 1 character short Best weapons against undead? Maybe I should have brought along a Protect from Undead scroll? |

I dualed a fighter to cleric, after getting GM with the Flail and then gave her the Flail of Ages. She has become quite an effective fighter, stopping only to heal some of the front line guys.

philc,
also turn undead can have a short range, meaning your cleric has to be near/at the *front* of the pack to do any good. Basically you start turning undead and let them come to you Kez |

quote: Actually the Daystar is not realy a +2 weapon... Its stats are +2, +4vs. Evil Creatures, DOuble Damage Bs. UNdead. So since most of the monsters that you come across in BG2 are evil, it is best to consider it a +4 longsword |

actually the daystar always hits as a +2 weapon. the bonuses for evil and undead only affect damage and to hit scores, not enchantment level.
i only keep this thing around for Sunray.

I completed BG2 SoA/ToB recently with Anomen in my party. Ignoring his attitude, as he rises in level, his Turn Undead becomes truly AWESOME. Late in the game, anything undead just plain exploded if it was anywhere near Anomen.
Part of the problem with Aerie as a cleric is that she is a multiclassed character. Anomen or Viconia would have nearly double the XP as a cleric as Aerie. The best weapon versus the undead??? An Undead Hunter paladin!!! |
