I just borrowed Oni for the PC and I have a problem. It is really slow and jerky. As in I have to guess where the mouse pointer is when I move it. The colour used to be bad, but now they're fine, but does anyoe have any idea why Oni runs so slow? Here are my specs:

1.5MHz Processor
450GB Hard Drive
DirectX 8.1
265MB RAM
Windows XP

Now, on the back of the package it says Oni runs in Windows 95/98/Millenium Edition, so that means it won't run in XP? Or could it be that the DirectX is too advanced, as it requires 7.1a? Any help greatly appreciated.

Slicer, what graphics card do you have?

With regards to DirectX, I'm no expert but its always better to go with the latest version. If you don't have a graphics card, and you're only using DirectX to run your game, then that could be the issue because games don't run as well on software acceleration as compared to hardware acceleration.

Additionally, there are known issues with running games meant for Win 95/98 on Win XP. I think its to do with the old FAT system versus the NTFS system. To counter this, you could try installing another HD and have Win 95/98 run on that one(dual operating sys). BUT this could be more trouble than its worth just for one game.

Hope this helps.

Well, I have an Nvidia GeForce2 graphics card...with a DDR driver.
Hm...its strange, because my friend who I borrowed it from has XP and it runs perfectly fine on his...I'm getting a different copy today from a different friend, though I don't think it'll help.

Thank you very much for your help!

Try updating your video card's driver.

It must be your video card, because I can get Oni to work very well on my 733mhz, 128mb RAM, Voodoo2.

I think your problem is your 1.5mhz processor. Today's modern processors can run in excess of 3ghz, so you might want to look at upgrading

more seriously though, upgrade your motherboard and graphics card drivers...

I think it may be my graphics driver. I haven't upgraded it since I formatted it, so I'm doing that now. My friends PC is as good as mine, and Oni does NOT need over 1.5GHz! It says it only requires 400Mhz! And thats the recommended specs...
What games do you play?? Over 3GHz??

Well, I think this'll solve the problem anyways. Thank you for your help!
