I was wondering whether modern motherboards which support both DDR and SD ram can use both types of ram at the same time.

Dual Channel refers to newer motherboards which have two memory interfaces. You put one stick on each interface and get a few percent speed boost.

ZZZZZZOOOOOMMMM

ive seen dual channel boost the speed of computers by quite a bit, you just have to make sure you have the bandwidth to the CPU.

An AMD 2600 is a 266(pre-Barton) core. Take a 2500 or a 2700, they're FSBs are 333. Then you take a 333 motherboard, two sticks(same!!!) of 333FSB RAM and jack in.
