I grew up in Las Vegas, the desert can be beautiful, but I was damn tired of it after 20 years of the same scenery.

Still, when I got married last fall, guess where I got married? Back home, outdoors, in the desert

I lived in Alamagordo New Mexico, while stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, was really nice. But then again we had Mountains, and White Sands National Park next to us, and we were only about an hour from El Paso, or Las Cruces. Was a great time, and if you like to mountain bike or 4wheel its great fun.

I lived in Yuma Az while stationed at the MCAS there for two years. Mainly worked at the bombing range 40 miles out in the middle of nowhere. I remember many times it would still be 100 degrees at midnight. Still, it wasnt bad.

From summer 1979 to fall 1980 I lived in Yemen, which is a very arid country. We spent some time in the empty quarter too, which is a large dessert separating Yemen from Saudi Arabia. Lots of smugglers there.
