The idea of 'success' is not just an idea, but a feeling as well.
What do you feel when you reach the top of mount everest?
What do you feel when you finally make that million dollars through hard work and tolerance?

Success exits because it is in every persons mind, no matter what situation you are in, it is there. And also it exists because we created that particular word. If we gave success another name, we would be calling it that, and not calling it success; you would be questioning another word, with another feeling and another upheaval in our humanity.

Success, as a societal role, serves us to have a purpose in life, gives us something to do, and achieve.
If you wanted to become a lawyer, you would have success on the top of your ladder, and you would do anything to reach that goal; therefore, going through the steps to become a lawyer.

Success does not gives us an advantage over other species (well at least this is what I believe)it is only another emotion or thought that helps us to live, if we didn't have success we would be relying on a different emotion or thought; just like other species do.

Hopefully what I have written has made sense.

Success... It's different for each person. Success is more of a goal in my eyes, most everyone has a goal in life in which they want to succeed in, some more difficult then others. For some, it's just living. Many people have different views on success. Success is not an idea, it's a way of life. We have to succeed to live. There's my two cents.

A philosophical answer for a philosophical question.

I can't tell you what success is. Only you can answer that. Just as you cannot tell me what success is. That is for me to decide. The abstract idea of success is in the end a relative value. Relative to the seeker's perspective.

I think that no matter what answer everyone gives, the question can still not be answered.
