I didn't make it to the Gulf, I was out in Fort Lewis Washington. Protecting the US from those crazy Canadians.

Seriously though, My unit was on alert to move out to Korea. I guess South Korea thought they would be able to take over the north being that the US was busy with Sadam. I can remember thinking about you guys over there wondering what was going on. Thinking about my buddies over there, what a time it was.

Thanks for the bumps guys, otherwise I would have missed it.

Gray Mage,

Been to Ft. Lewis. It's a beautiful post. One of my favorites. Man you got to watch those crazy Canadians. Never know when they are going to cross the border.
Personally, I don't think you missed anything. I'd have traded places with you any time. Saudi was the worlds biggest ash trays. I got to go on RR in Riyad, the capital. Do you know what there is to do in Riyad. Nothing. Kdog had it much
better in Bahrain. At least they got beer there. We had to make our own. That's actually not a big deal for a bunch of East Tennessee Boys. I guess making shines in the blood, though our ancestors would have been ashamed of the quality. Thank god for the French and their truck loads of Perrier, so we could cut our hootch.

Sie Taliesne,

Yeah I loved it out there, Mt. Rainier(sp), was the best part of that whole stay. A bunch of us hiked up and camped on the snow line, In may or June, coolest thing, there is a line of snow that goes around the top of the mountain. It's very distinct and very cool.

Where were you stationed?? I've been only to two posts, Fort Benning, GA and Ft Lewis. Not too exciting, but went to some cool training grounds. My favorite was tha Mojave dessert in CA.

You should know that I was a reservist. I've been to Ft. Dix for Basic Training ( it sucks big ones). Ft. Belvoir for MOS training (loved it there). Been to Benning, Bragg, Knox, and Campbell (a lot). Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot, Ft. Gulag (sp) in Panama and of couse Saudi and Iraq.

Mt. Rainer is beautiful. My wife and I thought about taking our honey moon there in 1989, but saved our money instead and went to the Smokies near Townsend TN.

Near Seattle would be one of my top choices of places to live if I couldn't live
here in Tennessee. I thought it was beautiful there with Rainer dominating the whole region. Rained a lot though. I'd probably grow webbing between the toes.

BTW I trained with the 1/22 inf reg. while I was there. Also got to experience sunburned feet for the first (and last) time.
