I have a virus and it's in my _restore folder. Norton can't touch it cause it's probably write protected or something. Anyway, when I try to enter the _restore folder it isn't there. I tried searching for it but no results. Does anyone know how I can delete this file (without letting Norton do it cause it wants me to make some disks but when I try them out it misses a file, guess what, file = 1 MB doesn't fit on the disk which Norton has written full and where it should be)

Run ScanDisk, it's not a virus, just bad diskclusters...

Should I do quick scan with repair errors or the expanded slower thing?
I did the quick but I just scanned it again and Norton says:

Name: W95.CHI
allias: Chernobil CIH Spacefiller CIH

Sure it is bad clusters?

No the problem is that I can't find or access the folder _RESTORE. Norton can't delete or move it cause it says the folder is write-protected.

go to folder and view options and set it so that you can view hidden or system folders and files, it's likely hidden because that checkbox is turned on, then you should be able to go in and get it, also turn off windows restore(if using windows 2k ME or XP, as it will restore the virus when you restart your machine.

Thanks to all who've replied!!!

Morguerat: Are the show hidden and show system files different options cause there are only 4 items in the _RESTORE folder and there should be at least a couple of thousand? Are the files in this folder important or can I just delete them all even though I don't know where the virus is? How do I turn of Restore?

in the folders option go to the view tab, there are several tabs there, among them, view hidden files and folders, and show protected system files, make sure both are visible, the files are backed up by the system so I would assume they are safe to remove (don't quote me on this however because I've accidentally fried more than one PC in my time)
