Truly a powerful combination, if they allowed it, expect MAJOR restricitons. Also, stalkers do get a crappy repritorie of mage spells, so they are kinda mages.

There's a reason that rangers and mages don't multi (and I agree that dual is really a case of game balance): their jobs are totally incompatible.

On the one hand, you stay indoors all day studying from books and scrolls.

On the other, you're involved in a six-week trek guiding *somebody* over the Matras...

On the one hand, your notion of home involves someplace that keeps plenty of writing materials, and is parchment-friendly.

On the other hand, your notion of home involves truly minimal indoor space, and lots and lots of really rugged terrain, with as many animals as possible hanging out right around you.

So, what do you say to your bear buddy when he accidentally knocks over a priceless brazier filled with imp's blood? And how do you keep sharp on your wilderness skills when you've been sitting in one place working on spell research for a week by lamplight?

I wanna know why you can't have a mage/druid. That is allowed by AD&D 2E rules and that is what the BG games are based off of....

I'd like some sort of a trapper/hunter style of Ranger... someone who could set traps and fight well. If the Ranger could *detect* and *remove* traps that would really be sweet, but unnecessary.

Stalkers always seemed kind of pointless... IMHO traps fit into the Ranger ethos better than backstabbing. So many early woodsmen relied upon traps to survive, but who ever heard of backstabbing a moose or bear? Traps and arrows are a *much* more survivable option.

Thats a preety good idea exept if you have a large stalker it'll take forever to make the mage part as big plus I don't think you can combine the two.
