I think a big part of the calculation is the number of people in the home in relation to the size. We have a fairlt large 4 bedroom home for just the 2 of us. We had that in order to have room the grow ie children.

I feel ashamed for living with running water, eating meat, and having electricity....

It's interesting that they don't mention water at all. In Australia at least, there are grave concerns about the amount of water we have and what measures desperately need to be taken in order to safeguard for the future of ourselves and the environment.

where does that even come from??
I conserve stuff, and try to minimise waste, I allways recycle. I do try.
I think this assumes you live in a coal burning factory with ajoined toxic waste production plant.

Food is always the worst because if you buy non-local produce the mileage that it does to get to your table is truly astounding (read hundreds or even thousands of miles in total depending on the product). We studied a few examples in economics and it was pretty incredible. And on top of direct costs of transportation, you have all the invisible costs of pollution from that transport, damage caused by the extraction of oil for the fuel used etc.

Sheesh, I don't even eat that much! I guess as Shamrock mentioned, the non-local produce must have made a difference.
