So having read all the various threads on IWs, and several other forums, having seen the complaints and issues, overall, is NWN2 worth getting?

I would say yes, as long as your machine can run it. I'm enjoying it, even though I'm only getting 8fps.

While I haven't played it myself yet, it has generally gotten good reviews. Personally, I plan on getting it, because even if the storyline is poor, the fan-mods are likely to shine just as brightly as before. Well.. as long as Obsidian tackles the bugs in time..

The storyline isn't poor - in fact that's the strong point. The NPC depth is awesome. Just make sure your PC can run it, you will really enjoy it. Even if you turn off most (in my case, all) of the eye candy, it's still fun.

Thanks for the replies. I'll stick it on my Christmas list.

On an unrelated note, seems I can't view the results of my own poll without voting... so... I picked "haven't you got anything better to do "

It's not quite BG3 - if it was as big as BG2 then it would be BG3. It's more like BG2.75.

Yeah, and by then it will be patched a bit too so some problems will be ironed out (I hope). As Mem said, the story is the strong point. Alot of work went into the OC, more than was ever in any of the previous OC's in NWN's 1 + expansions (SoU was my favourite OC though).

Well, if they offer as much support for NWN2 as they did for NWN1, then it should be a really great game. Let's hope its not another KotOR2 though.

KotOR II was sort of a let down to me. After having the deeper storyline, and great character interaction from the first, the second game seemed, well, hollow, and the story felt as if it were building up to some great climax, but then when the climax hit you it was more of a tap on the hand than a smack in the face.
