Does anyone know where i can get some good, cheap (as far as possible) and fast RAM. Im talking overclocking ram, it can be from America as long as it ships to the UK. Im looking for either 512mb or 1024mb. My main reason for this upgrade is so that I can overclock my Athlon xp2400+ further as I cant raise my FSB any higher at the moment.

Cheers
Ross

Depends how far you want to push the FSB. You can pick up PC3200, aka DDR400 from almost anywhere which should be good until at least a 200mhz bus.

If I remember, the 2400 is a Tbred which puts you on a 133mhz bus, and probably a locked multiplier as well. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a factory unlocked CPU, or are messing around with the L1 bridges, you probably won't get anywhere near a 200mhz bus.

Not to question your math...but with a 22.5 multiplier and a 200mhz FSB, your Athlon would be running at over 4.4GHZ.

Granted, I'd love to see that but if you got your Athlon 2400 up to 4.4GHZ, memory companies will be giving you all the RAM you need for free.

lol, I wasnt saying it would go that high, just saying that I could get those settings, although the only way would be with a Mach II phase cooling system, but....since I dont have a spare £500 at the moment I think Il give it a miss

Although your motherboard may allow you to set the CPU at a higher multiplier, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will POST.

Like I said, you will never achieve anything with a 2400+ that DDR400 couldn't handle.
