I will anger a lot of Ranger players on here but please explain to me the advantages of a ranger! I'll believe in Archer kit..but why anything else.
Sure they can charm animals but what does that ever do?
They can cast druid spells up to only third level...big deal.
They can only go up to weapon specialization.
They take longer to level up and have same hit dice as fighters.

Hide in shadows make them pretty good scouts and racial enemy commes in handy as well.
O.k the beastmaster sucks but the stalker has been named as the best kit in the game by a lot of people here.

Huuuh hide in shadows...surely thieves do that and so does the staff of the magi!!!! They can't detect traps and the stalker wears terrible armour!
OH look it's three greater wolfweres! Whats the lone ranger gonna do?
run back and say its lots of Wolfweres?
My Thief dualed to Mage with the staff of the magi can knock an army out, disarm traps and lay them.

Don't forget the Stalker the can backstab wich compensates for his lack of armor.

The ranger is a fighting class, people play the ranger because they want to cross blades with the enemy and engage in hand to hand combat an stuff like that.
The thief is more of a support class then a fighter, try attacking a ranger with a swashbuckler of the same lvl and you'll see what i mean.

Some people like to roleplay as well as annilate bad guys... I thought that rangers had more hit dice than the fighter did, I am wrong? Aslo they are the only class intended for dual wielding, unfortunately the BG series simply screwed that law up.. So, if you really want to play by DnD rules, rangers should be the only folks out there wielding two separate weapons.

Ah yes I totaly agree! If you are very role playing then your party should be made out of Bards and Rangers! Yep..in IWD I had a ranger because the millions of undead monsters and the ability to dual wield.

Couldn't find anything else sensible to post eh?
Some people like ranger, some don't. Some people like mages, some don't (etc, etc). No need to get aggitated about it and submit some vague post! But I do suppose it is your right to do so.

and yes, i'm playing a ranger (archer).

I don't understand. Why does your charcater have to have the best armor and the best weapon? I actually prefer leather armor to anything else. Am I stupid to assume people play roleplay in BG. Is the majority of people out there really powergamers? If so, I'm sorry for being dumb, but what is the fun in that?
