Welp, i deleted BG2 a half a year ago to make room for other games...and now i wanted to replay it some more...and it seems that one of my CDs got a wee bit worn and so refuses to install properly. Specificaly theres a single file that when it tries to install it starts "reading" the file for 10 minutes before it tells me that it cant read it.

anyone know how to fix this?

You can either:

  • Get a replacement Disc from BioWare (Check your Manual for Details)
  • Or go to your local Computer store, they can probaly fix your cd with a CDRecovery Kit/Set/Machine.

Or, (worked for me) try copying the entire contents of the disc to the desktop and when asked to put the CD in, change the directory used to where you copied the file.

There should also be something on Interplay's forums, somewhere, from the old BIS boards (might be on Bioware's too) on how to "fake" a full install. If the file is copyable but for some reason won't install, or if it's any number of unneeded ones (or an area file present on another CD), then you should be able to fake it ok.
