Opinions on kits/classes:

Fighter kits: Kensai is good when you dual class from them to either thief or mage (they have little armor, anyway, so this helps abate that loss with other abilities). Berserker is a great kit. I haven't taken enough blows to the head to play a wizard slayer (though in ToB, they improved their magic resistance).

Ranger Kits: Archers rock! Stalker is also a good kit, if used right (use him almost like a fighter/thief in combat). Beast Masters are not that hot (the weapon restriction can be a killer).

Paladin Kits: All are good. Depends on what you want to play.

Barbarian Class: A decent class; something about a half-orc barbarian that is very appealing (no, it's definitely not the looks or smell ). Not quite as effective as a fighter.

Cleric Kits: This is more of an alignment division than anything else (thus, comparing them against each other is like comparing apples to oranges).

Druid Kits: Overall, I think they are weak. I hate the shapeshifting ability (the standard wolf/bear one is weak). Totemic Druids would be my favorite, because they lose the shapeshifting but get summons. The Shapeshifter and Avenger can't cast spells in animal form, limiting their usefulness.

Monk Class: One word...Awesome!

Thief Kits: All are good in their own way; use them right and all are great (Swashbuckler is especially good when dual-classed to mage).

Bard Kits: Each is decent, but in all I am not greatly impressed by the class. Depends on what you want.

Wizard "Kits" (Specialists): Conjurers are the best (lose the least spells), or wild mage (if you don't mind a little randomness to spice up your life ).

Sorcerer Class: If you know the game and which spells are good, sorcerers rock. If not, they can suck if you make the wrong choices on spells.

A Magerobe is classed as armour. Kensai can't wear armour. Kensai/Mage can't wear Magerobe. I have spoken

but Kensai/Mage's can wear the "robe of evil/good archmagi", which has a base AC of 5, much better than your normal 10. I have typed. ;>)
