A compilation of Great Quotes by Boxers:
(Notice the older ones, then the later ones)

Jack Dempsey:
A champion is someone who gets up when he can't.
Honey, I forgot to duck.

Joe Louis:
I don't like money, actually, but it quiets my nerves

Marciano:
"I have always adhered to two principles. The first one is to train hard and get in the best possible physical condition. The second is to forget all about the other fellow until you face him in the ring and the bell sounds for the fight."

M. Ali/Cassius Clay:
Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the US Bureau of Wild Life.
Boxing is a lot of white men watching two black men beat each other up.
He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.
I'm so fast that last night I turned off the light switch in my hotel room and was in bed before the room was dark.

Duran:
"I am not an animal in my personal life. But in the ring there
is an animal inside me"

Tyson:
I want to rip out his heart and feed it to Lennox Lewis. I want to kill people. I want to rip their stomachs out and eat their children.
"I'm on the Zoloft [an antidepressant] to keep from killing y'all."
"I try to catch them right on the tip of his nose because I try to punch the bone into the brain."
[He] called me a ‘rapist’ and
a ‘recluse.’ I’m not a recluse.”
"I think I'll take a bath in his blood."

Holyfield:
"I look forward to being undisputed heavyweight champion of the world."

An interesting read, especially the Tyson one.

I hope this guy goes to a Zurich mental ward. That's kinda strange. And deranged.

I kept out his more... obscene quotes, like his thoughts about Jesus, white people reporters, beating his wife, you get the point. He gives the sport of pugilism a bad name.

Tyson is a walking freakshow. I have no time for him.

Some of those quotes are good though; Dempsey's "A champion is someone who gets up when he can't" is notable.

Some pretty decent fighters there.

Personally, I think Tyson was great for sport of boxing.

He made people watch, he was entertaining, he was a pure class fighter. It just shows how a nobody can end up a somebody.

Although, i thought the biting of the ear was a tad harsh, except from that everything he did before his "comeback" was great (comeback being when Danny Williams knocked him out!).

I even think his quotes to the press were just cosmetic, I know hes a rough guy, but the eating of children, that was just a hard guy image speech.

But, the best ever quotes by a boxer, were all Ali's/Clays

To make America the greatest is my goal
So I beat the Russian, and I beat the Pole
And for the USA won the Medal of Gold.
Italians said 'You're GREATER than the Cassius of old'."

"Marcellus vanquished Carthage
Cassius laid Caesar low
And Clay will flatten Doug Jones
With a mighty, muscled blow!
So when the gong rings
And the referree sings out 'the WINNER'
Cassius Marcellus Clay
Will be the noblest Roman of them all

I dun wrestled with an alligator
i dun tussled with a whale
i hancuffed lighting, thrown thunder in jail
yesterday i murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick
Im so mean i make medicine sick

If he's hip
he'll take a dip
'cos I'ma bust his lip

But, THE greatest all time quote was by Mr. Clay -

Clay comes out to meet Liston
And Liston starts to retreat
If he goes back any further
He'll be in a ringside seat
Clay swings with a left
And Clay swings with a right
Look at young Cassius
As he carries the fight

Liston keeps backing
But there's not enough room
It's a matter of time
Till Clay lowers the boom
Now Clay swings with a right
What a beautiful swing
And the punch knocks the Bear
Clear out of the ring

Liston's still rising
The ref wears a frown
For he can't start counting
Till Sonny comes down
Now Liston disappears from view
The crowd is getting frantic
But our radar stations pick him up
He's over the Atlantic

Who would have thought
When they came to the fight
That they'd witness the launch
Of a human satellite?
Yes, the crowd did not dream
When they laid down their money
That they would see
A total eclipse of the Sonny!
I AM

That quote will never be bettered!

Mohammed Ali (eddie Murphy imitation) replies to a question from a reporter if he has taken one punch too many: "ole Mcdonald had a farm.... eeeeyaaaeeeeyaaaoooo".
