Saw it, loved it, will see it again. I too was a little disappointed with the lack of philisophical meat that was inherant in the original, but then I also went into the cinema expecting the "best film in the world". Such expectation was bound to be left wanting.

In many ways it was vastly superior to the original. The apes and their habitat is much more believable and intimidating. The feeling of human inferiority is quite impacting. The action, cinematography, costuming, lighting, sound and pace are all of better quality - indeed the pace at times was arguably too quick as some narrative elements are left either implied or assumed.

As I said though, I will see it again. I did indeed love it. Go for it Memnoch!

Not to spoil but the fur bikini clad women were noteably missing.

Thank God the football season starts on Saturday to impose some order on my life following this summer of frippery. I swear that if I had advance notice about the end of the world and posted it here to warn everyone you can be sure that some aussie will turn it into a conversation about cricket.

Wel, I hink I will see it even if it seems to be bad. The original one is kinda booring IMHO, only interesting is the social aspects and the philosophic debates..

Hmm, maybe one should see them ina row??

I'm really looking forward to it, despite some of the comments here.
I loved the original, and I like Tim Burton's films usually.

That said, it will of course be taken out of context of the period when it was originally made, so the social comment (which IMHO made the original so good) will probably be missing. Should still be an entertaining film though!
