Sorry,
Memnoch I will have to wait till it comes out on HBO. I refuse to pay more for a movie than for a "Crown-on-the-rocks"

I saw it and thought it was ok. Not as good as it was hyped but not as bad as it was reviewed.

I thought the movie was reasonably good. However, I found it to lack the social commentary of the original and I, personally, was disappointed with the ending.

I agree with Azred. Without the social commentary of the first one, it lacked substance and then became more of an 'adventure' than a 3-dimensional story. The acting was excellent, the directing was very good ... it was the story itself that was lacking. And the ending blew.

Not to be a parrot, but I must admit I agree with all that has been said. My question is, why doesn't Hollywood come up with new ideas, rather than redoing classics that, to my understanding, were near perfect to begin with, and ruining them in the process? Are there no new ideas anymore? How many rehashes of "Planet of the Apes" and "Lost in Space" and "Psycho", etc., can they milk out of the originals? After a while, it really seems to be a bit ridiculous.

That, at least, was my impression upon watching the movie. Eye candy with little or no heart or substance of the original, and a lame ending. *sigh* For once, I'd like to see Hollywood come up with something ORIGINAL and have it be a new classic.
