Lovely - even the installation fails:

CRC failed in grn_texture\pchm\PCHM_SamuraiA_torso.bmp
Unexpected end of archive

heres another server
Doesn't link to a download - none that I can find at least - tells you about the demo file but no way to actually download it.
sigh
I'd prefer to go anywhere but GameSpot.

First download wasn't complete

Second download gives this error on installation

CRC failed in TERRDATA.OBJ
Unexpected end of archive

Sorry to say, I'm thinking that GameSpot is trying to "force" folks to buy a subscription.

Not when I went there - clicked on the "get dungeon lords demo off of wp" and ended up on a page that told the size and some other info on the game including up posted the file - but no server links. Tried it several times - same results. (shrug)

Did manage to get the demo on the other site - installing now.

I'm getting nervous... I DLd again from GameSpot, and it got up to 319 MB out of 319... but it didn't complete. I killed the DL, and I'm trying to install. I'll know what happens momentarily...

I'll be trying one of those other sites soon, methinks...

*edit* Woohoo! It seems to have worked! Now to test...

First of all, I'd like to say that my impressions so far of the demo are lukewarm. But I want to reserve full judgmenet until I try out more character combinations and get used to the combat (melee feels awkward ).

But I think everyone in this forum will recognize little bits of W&W they borrowed for this game: The ambient sounds, the look & feel of the savegame menu, the trap and chest disarm system, and the "pull the lever" method of transitioning from outdoors to dungeons.

In fact, I think that this game is using a revamped version of the "Deep6" engine they developed for W&W. Not surprising as I'm sure they wanted to streamline development by re-using what they could from past projects.

Its funny that lots of people on other forums are commenting about how nifty the trap disarm interface is. Fact is, its nothing new for us W&W veterans (its not exactly the same, but you can clearly see the inspiration) !
