Just ask, I'll tell you what I'm typing. But don't just stand over my shoulder and read what I'm typing. In fact, don't intrude on my personal space unwanted by hanging over my shoulder unless I tell you otherwise. I don't do it to others out of simple respect; I just ask the same.
I feel the exact same way, Nerull. It does bug me...

I can't STAND anyone looking at what I'm typing - be it at a forum, in an email, a piece of code, or something in Word. It's one thing that bugs me at School - teachers insist on looking over my shoulder to see the laptop screen... it's almost too tempting to do what I do to anyone else, and click 'Show Desktop' so they can't see what I'm doing.

I don't mind it that much when someone's watching over my shoulder, but I will ask myself the question as to why he is watching over my shoulder. What is it that I do that makes he or she watch?

The only thing where I DO mind someone watching my shoulder is when I send someone a PM (more personal) or an email. I refuse to type anything if someone is watching then.

Yeah exactly. To non-posters it seems a wierd habbit chatting on here as if we all were good mates in real life. However, we kinda are, so it's not wierd to us but a non-poster wouldn't understand therefore I only let people watch when I'm on here if they understand what's going on.

I dont mind at all, In fact I enjoy it when my wife reads a few posts with me. The kids love some of the sigs (willows, Lady z, yorick) and are often here while i post. The computer is in the rumpus (games) room with all there toys.

The bit I do have a serious problem with is when my inlaws are over. He reads my private word documents and such which pisses me off greatly. I dont password protect because i think it fair that my wife has total accesss to me and my thoughts and actions. Honesty is vital in a relationship.

Dude.... THE EGG IS BACK! I love it.

Anyway - as said, this is a public message board, ANYONE can read along without you knowing. Some people (on other boards I visit, mostly) seem to have no grasp of the concept at all that people are rteading everything they post, and that these people may not necessarily post something themselves. I saw someone here say that it's not so bad since we're all a big happy family here and know each other but that doesn't take into account all the lurkers that visit the boards - people who only read and don't post. So unless your board is password-protected, you should consider anything you write as open to anyone on the world with an internet connection.
That doesn't bother me though, I keep it in mind when I write here, and only post things that I am comfortable sharing. So in that sense I don't mind people reading over my shoulder either, although it can be annoying when you're trying to concentrate on a difficult matter in a serious debate or somesuch.

Feeling uncomfortable at people looking over your shoulder generally is more to do with invasion of personal space than anything else imo.
