Yes, MagiK, I join Piestrider in gladness at your safe arrival. We drive a Chevy Suburban, for precisely that reason. Fine, here, cloudless and 60 degrees.

Close call there Magik, glad you are safe and well. Our big bulky gas guzzleing tank for an automobile can be a life saver. I got plowed a few moons ago by Nissan 4X4 pickup. I was in a 1975 Mercury Cougar and glad I was. The passenger side(which I was on) was caved in almost a foot, bending the frame of the car around side of the truck. My girlfriend at the time was in the front seat and I was in the back, her daughter was driving. This truck came out of no where slamming us at around 60 MPH. He survived only because he was wearing a seat belt but his truck was completley totaled. My girlfriend had her pelvis fractured as well as a few ribs, all this on top of going through Chemo at the time, I had muscle contusions in my leg and woke up in a pile of oranges that was in the back seat with me. If that car was not all steel we would have been dead, or at least my girlfriend would have and I would have been the one with the broken bones. They had to extract the truck from the car before they could get to my girlfriend. Talk about your bang up jobs.

Thanks guys we were both ok, except for some minor bruises and some aches and pains the next day.

Im still amazed at how little damage was actually done to the Jeep....Im sure they will find all kinds of stuff to charge us for...but it was completely drivable except for the headlights after the crash....at 40 MPH....dang...

Yeah, they make Jeeps tough, originally to withstand military damage. Thank God you were driving one. Hmmm, I wonder what it would have done to a Hummer?

Glad to hear that SUV saved your life, MagiK. BTW, I note I own one - but being earthy-crunch I'll state it's a little Rav4 4-banger that is gentle on the gas (was a practical choice for my wife, being small and AWD rather than 4WD). But, I also admit I'd own a Hummer1, which I respectfully note is a HMMWV to be accurate, but only if it came with a weapons mount and a winch (cause you know if you own that vehicle you're gonna try shit that gets you in trouble).

When I lived in VT, the folks there laughed at the NY/NJ flatlanders who would drive up the mountains so speedily in their SUVs only to go careening (or is it careering, I forget) off the road on the other side. No matter the 4-wheel traction, you simply cannot stop a vehicle on ice unless you are gentle, gentle, gentle.

Oi, I gotta go. Packed up a bunch of work and heading home for the weekend. See y'all on Monday.

See ya, TL. Have a good weekend. I saw the greatest comment about that dumb "What would Jesus Drive?" campaign. It was in The Big Picture comic strip, and it said, roughly, "Heck, He was a carpenter, wan't he? He would have driven the biggest, longest F250 he could get." nd his companion replies, "Yeah, can't haul much wall board in a VW." I'll have to ask LoA. EDIT. Darn, he isn't answering.

Glad that your car survived Magik... if you changed your unreadable font colour, then I might be glad that you did as well...
