bauldergate -- question about drizzit

sorry for posting on this site ( could not find the baulder's gate area, i guess its gone), has anyone gone after drizzit to kill him? I was told it can be done. If you do kill him you get:

both scimitars
his boots
his bracers
his armour

WHy i ask is that i know someone who did (you basically are going up against a 40th level char.) and went up 3 levels! the way they had beat drizzit is through the wand of monster summoning( just keep casting and make sure you keep your main char running around) and he did it.

just checking to see if anyone else had a similar experience.?

Drizzt is Lvl 16 not 40

I have managed to kill him in two different ways (both require high speed and manuverability)

The Very cheesy rich mans way:

requires boots of speed, potion of speed and LOADS of arrows of detonation simply run as far away as you can from him turn and shoot then simply run out of the range blast radius and repeat the process it takes between 15 and 20 arrows so save up that cash. Note the fire damage doesn't actually hurt him just the arrows them selves (why not use cheaper arrows then?, because for some reason these are the only arrows i have found that actually hurt him)

The assassins way:

This is how i did it with my solo thief (back stab work quite well)
requirements: High Thac0, boots and of speed potion of speed also I used the short sword of backstabbing and a potion of power to help build my thac0 up. Simply run up hit him in the back the run away quickly out of his range and take to the shadows again. then repeat the process. (note dont be discouraged if you can't hit him you are a thief and he has AC of -8 just keep trying you will get there and also you get to hit bonus's when you back stab)

is drizzit not a dual class ranger(16 or 20) and ?????(20th level) making him a 40th level char. ?

and Daniel, did you manage to get the items i had mentioned?

no he started of as a Lvl20 fighter and then met montolio who taught him the ways of a ranger at which point he had a change in career and became a ranger, he XP stayed the same so his level went down because rangers level up slower than fighters.

You get his armour and scimitars

actually arrows of piercing work well as does +2 bullets for slings.
the method i used to kill him once when playign evil was to use a wand of monstersummoing and just kept clickign it till it ran out at the same time i had my enitre group using range weapons archers had piercing arrows crossbow had +2 bolts and slings +2 bullets. Just to warn you you need a critical hit on him to do any damge.
I got the swords and his armor i am not sure if i got anything else but then those are the main things he drops anway. A big point is to keep summoned monsters between you and him if not he might pick you up asa target.
