Ian Thorpe, australian young swimmer, is GOD

Right now he has achieved 3 records and 4 gold medals, and he still can get a lot more...

Congratulations to the aussies for having such an outstanding guy !!!

That he did, and taught young Thorpey a lesson in never underestimating someone and in always expecting to roll over top of the opposition. Van den Hoogenband was the male swimmer of the Olympics without a doubt - no Aussie in his right mind would argue with that. On the same note, I think there is a widening gap between the two now. It will be interesting to see if Ian has the speed to take out the 100m as well won't it . I am expecting he won't.......just yet .

Nah, Pieter himself was saying he didn't train hard enough for the World Championships. And anyway, I still have to stick up for him, since he's from the same place as I am (Eindhoven)... Ah well, we'll see for the 100 meters...

Gee, I tried not to bite, I did, I did, but I just couldn't help myself . Just a reminder that Thorpey's best time is now, what, something like a second and a half lower than PVdH's best (Olympics, Championships or otherwise) for the 200m. I haven't Pieter blaming the loss on poor training - both of these dudes are great friends and sportsmen. He acknowledges there is a gap, and most right thinking people would agree with him .
