What do you think?

I'm not talking exclusively religious beliefs here, though I'm up for discussion on them too - certainly they are as relevant as any other form of belief!!

Clearly, our beliefs about the world help shape the world we experience. Sazerac used the phrase "self fulfilling prophecy" and I agree with his points regarding that totally.

Another example is that of the person who views other people as basically good and worthy of being treated decently and respectfully. That person's beliefs will tend to be self fulfilling -- as people are treated in this way, they will tend to respond in kind. Conversely, a person who views the world as an awful dog eat dog, screw each other over type of place will also find such a view self fulfilling in his reality -- as he treats people in a less than generous fashion, such will only tend to be returned.

However, don't misunderstand me. I agree with Lemernis' point that this does not mean that reality is totally subjective or totally dependent on our views. We are talking in terms of tendencies here, not absolutes.

Great posts everyone, thanks VERY much. I wanted everyone's views as the subject is relevant to something I'm working on at present. I found the points well thought out and interesting.

Special thanks to Sazerac and Lemernis, who have clarified my own thinking on this subject.

Any more thoughts on this more than welcome!

true. my beliefs are who i am, and they're what many people are as well.

It's simple. Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury. The amount of energy gathered depends on the size of the injury...What would happen if there was an injury that threatened the very life of the Planet? Think how much energy would be gathered! Ha, ha, ha. And at the center of that injury, wil be me. All that boundless energy will be mine. By merging with the energy of the Planet, I will be come a new life form, a new existence. Melding with the Planet, I will cease to exist as I am now. Only to be reborn as a 'God' to rule over every living soul.

What are you saying? Are you trying to tell me you have feelings now? Ha, ha, ha... Stop acting as if you're sad. And there's no need to act as if you're angry either. Because, Cloud, you are... a puppet.

Aha. A man after my own heart. My five favorite words all in a sentence, one after the other.

I create my own reality.

Oh boy, don't I just.....

Thanks for reminding me, G'Kar, my sense of that has got a bit lost over the past few days. I always seem to forget wisdom at the time I most need to have it in the forefront of my mind.... Then when I most need it, there it is. You're a star. (But you know that.... )

Isn't there a limit on how long a sig can be? It's a real pain when a sig is 6 million times longer than the post itself.
