So, I'm considering startin a new game with a solo Ranger/Cleric, roleplaying every single aspect of the game. I've heard before that the Ranger/Cleric Combo is damn fun and a rather good one. I know of the major problems I'll come through, specially when facing traps.. But I want to give it a try with this combination.
However, I have a few doubts regarding equipment. I mean, should I Dual-Wield, Sword and Shield or Two-handed sword? Also, once decided wich "swordry system" is decided, what are the weapons I should use? Thx fer your thoughts, later.

You won't be able to use edged weapons, so swords are out, but a very effective combination is Flail of Ages + Defender of Easthaven.

I agree, Imrahil. Another option (if you go dual weilding) is to use the Flail of the Ages with Crom Faeyr in your offhand.
A weapon & shield combo isn't a bad one at all, but most R/C's want to take advantage of the ** free in Two Weapon Fighting. Always keep a sling handy for those out of range enemies!

If you solo, make sure to put at least one star in mace just in case you happen to come across any undead...

C/R is very powerful cahracter. You should put * into Flail, Warhammer and dual-wield.

C/R rocks! Heck, i'm soloing one right now. I've gone from lvl 7 to lvl 31/25 C/R in a very short time. I'm just out of the Underdark. I have 5 * in war hammers, 5 * in slings, 3 * in dual wield, and 2 * in shild style. And i use Crom Faeyr and Sentinel +4 in my hands. I also have the Sling of Everard for emergencies. After i finish soloing SoA i'm gonna soloing through ToB and then install the Tactics mod and solo him again through SoA and ToB. I want to get to lvl 50/50 (i have a mod installed). Anyway, this is how i use him. Hope this helps...

how the hell do you have 5* in weapons when rangers (and multiclasses) can only reach 2*?
i believe i've made this point before but at a certain point, the low level buffs a cleric uses before a fight severely outweigh the advantage of having the crom in the off hand. defender of easthaven is far more beneficial at the levels you are describing.

No, you must be thinking of Ranger: Archer classes. I've allways been able to put 5* in weapons with Rangers and Ranger/Clerics.

Uhhhhh, only fighters can get more than 2 proficiencies in any given weapon. Either you installed something that allows all warrior classes to do that, or you're cheating.
In BG2, unmodded version, only Fighters can get more than 2 proficiencies in any weapon.

I believe there's an Ease of Use component that allows multiclasses to place more than 2 stars in weapons.
