Yes, I'm looking forward to this one, too! I'll have to see if it's playing in Denton (hopefully). If so, I may go tomorrow evening (have something on for tonight).

I agree with the general concensus of the board. The f/x were great, the fighting was great, but the story was pretty bad. I think they worked to hard to tie it in to the first one. I thought the existential element was kind of cool though. It was overall an enjoyable movie though, very reminiscent of Indiana Jones.

Special effects were good, but I didn't like the way the ending was done. It was still a good movie, but not a great one. B-, worth seeing, but not worth seeing twice in the theater.
And yes, I thougth The Rock was a little overhyped for what he did for the movie. Hell, I coulda like big and tuff and yelled in pain. Don't go expecting him to say much. You might not like The Rock, but you do have to admit he can lay a line down well and is a good showman. BK |

I saw it Saturday at a matinee. I thought it was an incredibly FUN movie. And a good follow-up to the Mummy. Like Draconia, I was thrilled that they used the exact same actors as the first movie. PLUS they were still together, still in love, and had a child.. what IS hollywood's penchant for unworkable love relationships anyway??? But this one was still working.
Yes it was predictable, but again, it was just plain fun. ------------------ Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I regain consciousness. Happy Member of Fast Fourward. |

Just getting home from the movies and shopping...I agree with MILAMBER.
I also want to add that I don't think heroes in movies ought to be THAT bullet-proof! I thought the derigible AND the last Monster were too hokey to believe they made it into the movie! I'd say that if you REALLY REALLY REALLY liked the first one, you'll enjoy the second. Moni |

I'll be going to see this one when it is released here - I enjoyed the first one - I nearly said original, which is a bit daft considering how many 'The Mummy' films there are out there - if any can be said to be the original it would probably be "La Momie du Roi" (also titled "The Mummy of Rameses") made in 1909, with the all time Classic being "The Mummy" made in 1932 starring Boris Karloff.
I love films of this type - they don't really take themselves too seriously but are part of a tradition of horror films which goes right back to the dawn of cinema.... ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. Epona of The Laughing Hyenas |
