Hey, ive noticed that a couple of people or should i say everyone in the world who has played Balders Gate 2 has had trouble with the seemingly harmless to the eye Mindflayers. If their is anyone who needs help against them use the strategy i used, Mindflayers attack a beings brain, so the best thing to attack them with is the simple animate dead spell, Skeletons dont have brains!
even a couple of low level skeletons can take out any mindflayer and avoid the holding spells they cast. So sit back and watch the tentacles fly!
Okay hope this helps, simple hey?

An old and well known tactic. Newbies might like the information, however.

Also try to have a level 15 spellcaster create the skeletons so they will become skeleton warriors.

Some of the Illithids are actually quite good fighters.

many have referred to it as cheesy, but depending on where you are simply open a door and throw in cloudkill to soften them up. Yeah yeah Illythid's are too smart for that, well i guess they should have improved the AI, eat cloudkill bastards!

That is a BUG.
Cloudkill should *NOT* bypass magic resistance.
This is fixed by the Baldurdash Fixpack.

Brains or not .. my skeleton warriors allways fall after any illithid does more than 8-10 damage to it ... that's not a whole lot...

Mind Flayers are so simple to kill that they are not fun anymore, especially if they aren't packing loot. I just send in a single dude with Chaotic Thoughts cast on him, and possibly hasted depending on how many there may be, and just slice away.
They only have two attacks, Psionic Blasts and a tentacle mind eat. Choatic thoughts makes you impervious to the psionics, and if you have a decent AC then they are nothing more than easy XP.
This is another very useful cleric combat spell.

I always liked the Vietnam lieutenant style of fighting against Illithids. Summon an army of monsters send em in and as they start dying send in another wave of monsters!!! YEAH CARNAGE!!! Then when everything is dead walk in and see the reminants of battle! Or...just...do what everyone else said. BUT THE CARNAGE...

I personally prefer Invisible Stalkers, they always take out any Flayers I put 'em up against.
