Deadric weapons are heavy!

Im just wondering if Its wise to train with a chitin one instead, does my skill rise equally fast if I have a chitin axe? Im only killing stuff on the countryside...

I also wonder what the difference between shields and towershields are...they whiegh the same and have the same armour class...

As long as you're not going after powerful magical monsters then yes, it's worthwile to train with the worst weapon you can get. Every swing you take at a monster counts towards a skill increase, so the longer it takes you to vanquish your foes, the more your skills will go up per monster.

The difference between a normal shield and a towershield of the same material is the enchantment value. You can put a stronger enchantment on a towershield.

Up your strength then. or enchant an item to carry the fortify strength spell. OR enchant an item to have the constant feather spell effect.

When you kill stuff, your skill will increase, when your skill increase you will gain level up, when you gain level up the monsters you'll encounter are tougher. so in a sence you should be using better type of weapons.

i think there is a difference in AC or at least there should be assuming they're both of the same class (ie: light, medium, and heavy). for example, if your light armor skill is high and your heavy armor skill is low than when you switch from a lighte chitin shield to a large heavy steel shield the ac of either one could be the same. normally the large heavy steel shield would be of greater AC but because you have a low score for the heavy armor skill that will bring down the AC rating of the large heavy shield. in fact, this works with all armor.

well if you don't mind doing a little trick, then make and use a feather/soultrap spell and cast as much as you want on yourself.

Feather X pts on self for 2 seconds (X-any amount that you are capable of casting successfully)
Soultrap on target for 1 second

Look straight down at your 'feet' in a corner and cast away.

HIT. You get an increase in every skill when you've successfully hit, cast, create, enchant, use, etc.
