I read the warning in the other thread, but I'm not getting an answer. I didn't know about this stupid virus (missed the first thread).

Last night Seph and I chatted for a few minutes and it looked like he asked me if I wanted to see a picture of him and his friend. I thought that was kind of odd so I ignored it. The next time I sent Seph a message, it downloaded ANYWAY. Is that d**ned virus in my computer now? What will it do and how do I get rid of it?

There isn't any info on the virus as far as I know. First you should delete the file (the picture12(4).exe (or whatever it's called)) make sure you DON'Trun it!! then goto your start menu, click run, type the directory and file C:\windows\system\msconfig.exe, goto the tab startup and de-checkmark the lines cointaining the starting of MSN (sometimes there are 2 entries usually one). The system asks you to restart. Do that and done !!! If you really want to be sure, uninstall MSN and then download it again and install it again. Hope it helps

Brenda, darling, first take your own advice and *breathe* !

I asked Wolfgir on MSN about it and that is what he said:

Wolfgir sagt:

Wolfgir sagt:
It´s a description of that bloody virus, name and everything!

I hope that helps - and is everything else okay with you ?

Well, everything will be okay if I can ensure that bloody damn virus doesn't get me! *breathe: in with the good air, out with the bad air*

Okay.

Anyway, I'm just afraid I'm going to get home and have had a meltdown. The computer is sort-of second hand so I haven't got a CLUE what my system is like, therefore no hacking for me if it dies on me. I'm hardware illiterate. Ask me to run an application....I can do it. Ask me how much memory my computer has or what kind of soundcard I have....not a chance.

I don't want to lose contact to the only real sanity I have right now. (My r/l friends and I have such different schedules, it's veritable impossible to get together very often.)

Am I panicking?

btw: what the HECK is all that 'gibberish' you typed? I mean, I understand really what it is, but how can it help me if that virus is in my computer?

Aww.... Brenda, sweetheart, just try to relax and hold on to that last bit of sanity. It really sounds like you're losing your head.... I might not be able to offer you any advice on viruses but I'm certainly always here for you in my capacity of shrink/psychiatrist/friend if you should ever need my services....

Thank you, Alex. You really are a sweetie. (((hugs)))

And I just may need that shoulder if my computer crashes. I'll be insane come Monday.

Well, all the gibberish is the extralong url to the page with the description of the virus and the removal instructions. For some reasons I can get the board to display it as url, so just use copy and paste.

Secondly, the virus seems to be of the rather harmless kind, rather an annoying hoax than a real threat, doesn't do much more than spread, so just relax: it won't wreck your whole system.

If you feel like it, feel free to hail me, once you get home (with or without the virus: after all, I have been warned ), and then we shall see if we can't find a way to "brighten your day" just a little bit ...

First - 'whew'! I'll still get rid of the creepy thing.

Second - awwww...thanks, hon! If you are sure you're up to staying up late, I will (for a little bit anyway). Don't want to become an excuse for you not getting your THESIS done.
