stuck in the temple

Am I screwed or what.
In the temple I went down a lift walked across to another lift with two floors
got in to two treasure chests. Went back to get out an up only to find the lift
stuck up on the upper floor. I cannnot find a switch to bring that lift down.
I know that one of the rooms is very dark so I thought there is a switch there.
If I have to reload I will lose about two days of exploring.
Am I screwed or what

Hmm, that's a new one. Quick question. Do you have the Vanish or Teleport spells?

If you do, try to use them (don't bother using teleport if you didn't create a portal outside of your area though)

I doubt that's going to solve your problem but it might work.

Also, how far back is your last save game prior to the kitchen lift.

Tell us how you make out, I'm sure someone else will come along with a better solution.

I think if you explore some more you will find a different way out. I went up and down so many lifts I can't remember about the one your talking about. Let us know..,

If you don't have any luck you could send me a zipped copy of your saved game. Sometimes using a different computer system will unlock a few of the bugs.

I have experienced the bug, too. I lost my game that way once. I've never seen the problem again - perhaps, because I always save my game before going down from the kitchen since then. The bug seems to belong to the class of extra nasty bugs that pop up only very seldom - no possibility to debug or to find a workaround.

I know what you're talking about. I went down the lift in the kitchen and found it was stuck at the top instead of cycling up and down. Fortunately, I had a save game from just prior so I could try again. The second time, the elevator cycled up and down.
