ok im trying to help someone make up a family tree. We're trying to look at the old census's to go back. We spent at least an hour searching on google etc. but everything was linked to this website (cant remember what its called) that you have to pay for to use. So im wondering does anyone know of any websites that give you free information? Im looking for something that can be used to search for last names. Any help is greatly appreciated!

and The persons family used to live mostly in the uk but there were some in America but mainly UK.

That's a great idea, unless you live no where near Ellis Island (and Ross's profile says he's in Scotland). Was there anywhere else (on line even) that you were able to get info? Not just asking this of Cloud, but of anyone, since I'm curious too.

ok after looking into them well the first one you have to pay for but the second one is good. The only problem is a lot of the family that we found he already had written down. So does anyone know of anymore websites?
