I didn't want to snake Rudedawg's (now freefalling) DVD thread. I had asked if anyone could name five movies the "Duke" died in? For you young wippersnappers the "Duke"(John Wayne)was the original hero he didn't need machine guns, and could whip all comers in a saloon fight. Women swound(sp?), villans fled, puppies howled

OK, here are my five, dredged from memory.
I'm sure about three, but not so sure of the last two.

1. The Alamo
2. The Shootist
3. The Sands of Iwo Jima (don't remember if the title is The Battle of...)
4. The Cowboys
5. a diving movie with Red Witch in the title

I'll get the exact title for #5 after Johnny D gives me the go-ahead...

You betcha pilgrim!

Forgive me John D. but Katheryn Hepburn didn't swoon. She was down right crotchety.

You are right though, he was and still is the Hero of all times!

Does a bear sh*t in the woods?

Hmm, well the Alamo Movie was one. Thinking real hard and can't rember if he died in any of the WWII movies (can't rember). I'm thinking the Sands of Iwo Jima, and there was one Cavalary film I think too.

That's only three I can think of.

Sheesh, fill me in please

pretty danm good there RudeDawg most people can only get 2 or 3, to get five is impressive! Wake of the Red Witch thats one of the nine I didn't know(I had to check the net for that one ), along with Central Airport. The man that shot Liberty Valance is usally the one that is missed by most fans because the movie starts off with him dead and is seen through Jimmy Stewart's memory

1. Central Airport
2. Reap The Wild Wind:
3. Fighting Seabees
4. Wake of The Red Witch
5. Sands of Iwo Jima
6. The Alamo
7. The Cowboys
8. The Shootist
9. Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (but not seen dying).

Don't tell my dad that I missed four of them, he'll skin me...
It took too much thinkin to get the five I did.

hhhhhmmmmmmmmm
I've never even SEEN Central Airport.
Liberty Vallance threw me, 'cause of what you said. I didn't see him die.
Wild Wind, and Fighting SeaBees, I'm kinda fuzzy on. I need to go rent them again, it's been too long.

5 out of 9, my dad's gonna be pissed....

BTW, I just bought three black and white prints of the Duke, signed by the artist, Dan Brewer. I'll get them framed later this month, and send you a pic...

Also, I'm getting the Quiet Man, Iwo Jima, and Rio Grande in a boxed set DVD.

Gotta love the Duke....

Katheryn Hepburn was a broad in every sense of the word, one of the last. When she was younger OOOOh baby, if you get the chance to see "Baby" with Katheryn and Cary Grant watch its realy funny.
