Can the monks and wizard slayers magic resistance be reduced by mage spells like Lower resistance and pierce shield?

When you have a monk close to level 40, you are indestructible! Only maze, imprisonment have tedious long lasting effects on you. Beholders and Elder Eyes all fall easily, especially when you add GREATER WHIRLWIND!
Simply the best character to make an easy solo-er.
