in bg1 do you always miss on money or you can become unbelieveable rich? for example, in bg2 I got lots of money I could buy everything and it killed a lot of fun.. to be poor for a long time is more funny. whats your wealthy status in bg1

By the time I got towards entering the city I was aggravatingly rich...it was fun in a way, because I spent some time going through Librarius and finding the top equipment for all my characters, but you're right, it can be boring because there's nothing to work toward, money wise.

When I got back from Candlekeep in Baldur's Gate I had around $70,000 which is plenty and I couldn't even spend it.

True: The number of "Best whatevers in the Game" that you actually need to buy is quite small. Just a Composite Longbow, and 3 or 4 suits of armor (1 for your Tank, 1 for your Thief, 1 or 2 for your Mages, if you have a backup Mage). And maybe some arrows and stuff at Sorcerous Sundries. Apart from that, everything else comes from loot.

The Rule of Money in BG1: When you find your first Lareal's Tear Necklace (End of Chapter 4), rejoice, because you'll never need to sell it.

money is worth alot up until about the end of chapter 4. by that point you should have several thousand gold pcs and a lot of nice items to sell.

but you still can find ways to waste it farely easily. you will probably have to play 60 to 80 game hours before you will have all the nice little trinkets, widgets, bells and whistles that your heart desires. but even then there are things that you may want to find or buy!!

I found it extremely easy to become stinking (rich) in bg1. It took a lot of time though, as most of my cash came from picking bodies.

How'd you folks ever get incredibly rich? I'm smack in the middle of Ch. 3 with a decent party, decent armor, decent weapons, but only ~1000 gold. Haven't cleared all the lower areas yet, and I haven't hit up Peldvale or the Ankheg farm or the Bandit Camp yet, but where are these thousands of gold pieces? Maybe because I'm a spendthrift?

I somehow always needed to sell that Laeral's Tear necklace. What's next on my shopping list? Thunderhammer's full plate and shadow armor and poison dagger, Thalantyr's good magi robe, magic arrows...

Those Archmagi robes cost an absolute bomb! I only got an evil one for Xzar - and taht only because some mage I killed (possibly Davaeorn) wore it.

You must not be too far into the game because those are easy to afford as soon as the money begins to really roll in.
