I reckon you should be able to have Dark/Evil Paladins. That would give the good paladins someone to fight and balance the game. Also I would really like to play as a dark Paladin. They would use the same honor system and all that but instead they serve some dark/evil god. You get dark/evil clerics why not paladins?. If you read the Dragon Lance book series you'll see why dark paladins are so good.

There is a class called Anti-Paladin, and using Shadow-keeper I found out that a Anti-Paladin sword is offered in the game,

Unholy Reaver

This dark, two-handed sword radiates evil from a distance and is only usable by Anti-paladins.

STATISTICS:

THAC0: +5 bonus
Damage: 1D10 +5
Damage type: slashing
Weight: 15
Speed Factor: 5
Proficiency Type: Two Handed sword
Type: 2-handed
Usable By: Anti-paladin

So maybe they where going to let us play one at first and then changed they're minds

I for one would of liked it, LORD SOTH RULES!!

It would be nice if you could to a quest that ended up with you ending up like lord soth. A good Paladin turned evil undead. And you would be very powerful. You'd get all them summon dead spells and life draining spells and hold spells.

well, little correction here:
Lord Soth is Death Knight, not Dark Paladin, he serves no god

Oh yes he did, The Dark Queen. And as far as I know there is not much difference between a fallen Paladin and a fallen Solamnic Knight.

In the new D&D rules there is a class called 'Blackguard'. This is essentially an Anti-Paladin, as it has the abilities of the Paladin reversed. Personally I think it's a bad idea. The whole point is that the forces of good are few and individually strong, and the forces of evil are many but individually weak. However, the Blackguard will doubtless be popular if it's introduced in Neverwinter Nights. Indeed, some people in my D&D group are already referring to Paladins as 'Anti-Blackguard'.

Dark Paladin sounds good and in our FRP sessions, I always give a chance to Fallen Paladin characters to become a Dark Paladin (Dread Knight)

to become a anti-paladin all you need to do is do a few evil acts and have your reputation drop nad your alinment wil change and ittll say Class Lost: Paladin, and ull be a anti paladin, do it after lvling tho, beacuse ur classes changes so all exp is wasted and ur exp is rest at the begining of whatever ur paladin was.

I rather like the idea myself. It makes sense that evil religions are just as dedicated and organized as the good ones and the concept of the "black knight" is common enough in myth and legend.
