Practicing Krav Maga, not really an "art"form but more martial.
Krav Maga is basicly the practiced art of not getting too hurt and get out of most situations that can appear in real life. Covers all sorts of fighting, boxing, kicking, wrestling throws armed and disarming techniques etc.

Not a sport so you can't really have tournaments cause it is basicly up to your opponant to do something aggresive and you show him/her the error of his/her ways.

I have been training since 2000 but because of an injury I had to sit out and grump for more then a year and get healed. Have now a rank called P3 which is a bit early and not really suitable I think but the rank isn't the real issue, its the knowledge and experience you have really.

To give you some idea of what it is check this movie out:

It really depends on what you want to get ouut of the martial art. In general, though, I found Chinese styles to be a bit more intuitive, but that's just me.

Just out of curiosity, Wolfgir, do you wear a jockstrap while training Krav Maga? There's seems to be alot of hits and kicks on the ol' family jewels.

I'll have to get back to you on that translation, I am not sure what my Sifu said the english trans for it was. I will have to find the documentation I have on it. The main thingg that stuck with me was when Pat Johnson, who was a judge at a competition we were at, looked at him and singled him out from all the "Black Belts" and told him no grappleing and no lock's, it was classic. Jay Roger's was my Sifu, and he was on the US Demo team along with Cynthia Rothrock and Tia Mak (sp?)

Good times

Calon: choose a school that's close to you, and that you're comfortable when you try it out.

If a school won't let you sit in and try a class for free, it isn't worth your time, as they're more likely after your wallet than actually teaching you something.

I'd avoid the flatulent dragon style, especially if you like beans.(mouth is still moving)
