Those screens are from the crappy NWN2 game..

This is a mod and not an Official game by Bioware, right?

I personally have lost all faith in Black Isles team since NWN2. Such a failure. Maybe in another 5 patches it'll be playable.

The UI design looks like a 4yr old designed it.

BG3? heard too many rumors already, don't trust anything about it anymore. Let me know when it hits the shelves, then we can talk about it.

I hope no Baldur's Gate 3 ever sees the light of the day.

Because the story has been told. There is nothing left to do for the main character or the NPCs. There can be no prequel for obvious reasons, and anything that plays after Throne of Bhaal would either be anti-climatic, or require a Planescape-like setting.

The only way a Baldur's Gate 3 could work is if it had nothing to do with the original plot character. There were lots of interesting side quest chars that could be developed, however.

But you can still place games in or around the Baldur's Gate city. Like that playstation one.

Agreed. A prequel about Gorion's youth could easily be awesome.

Hmm, now that I think about it, if done with proper care, an alternate universe of sorts, where the player controls Sarevok, would be intriguing. For example if the first episode were to follow his way to the throne of Baldur's Gate (up to the death of his rival, the BG protagonist), and the second would follow his rivalries with other bhaalspawn or something similar but not quite (a la Irenicus). The problem with this idea is that, in the first episode, Sarevok the protagonist would definitely have to do a considerable amount of evil acts (which could perhaps be countered or excused somehow), but that's not an issue for everybody. Faulty as it may be, I've taken a liking to this silly idea.

The problem with doing something like that, and then calling it Baldur's Gate 3 is that it's playing on the name, instead of the content. Suppose it came out crappy? Then Baldur's Gate loses, in the long run, especially to the new/next generations of gamers. Neverwinter Nights 2 went a long way, at first, to ruining that franchise, and there are still people that adamantly don't like it. There are elements that go both ways for me. I would hate to think of somebody butchering up the game that got me into CRPG's in the first place.
