I generally try to look at any nation or people with tolerance and understanding, even try and see if I can pick out good points in them which I can appreciate and learn from. But in the case of the Brits, when I reflect on how they threw their weight around the entire planet in the 19th Century, and in particular how they poisoned the Chinese with opium (I'm Chinese) and later blew them up when they tried to put a stop to it... I believe most of you can guess what sort of things I'm likely to think or say... (I know, it's more than 150 years in the past, but still...)

If Earth were Dominus, the British (of the 19th Century) would have to have been the Rapax.

Edit - Well, it appears I am unable to send PM's to Mr Dark. That is helpful. If you are still reading this I am sorry if I caused offence. This thread was writtne as I was being accused of attacking American at any opportunity. I was trying to show that there is a wealth of difference between hating a country and hating the policies of the government of that country. Go back and check my top ten, are they all directed against the people of the UK? Are any of them? You have me exactly right when you say a thread that actually did say "All the people from country X are bastards", but is this one a thread like that? I was trying to show to some members here how stupid an accusation of being "Anti-country X" is based on critiscm of their government policies. Mods, please go easy on this guy. I don't think he was fully aware of where I was coming from. And go easy on me as well actually... for the reasons above... please?

Dark, for excessive foul language used to flame another forum member (some of the most excessive I've seen) your account has been suspended for two weeks, after which we will reevaluate the status of your membership. If we see threads that we do not agree with here, we do NOT cuss or flame the person who started them. Certainly not to the extent that you did above with at least SIXTEEN cuss words used, all in anger against someone else. That's effectively sustained verbal assault, mate, and is not justifiable by anything.

In any case, if you found this thread offensive all you had to do was email one of the moderators. Just because you found it offensive does NOT give you the right to attack and flame another member with a torrent of expletives and verbal abuse - including real threats of violence.

Barry, you should have known better than to post a thread like this. I don't think that your intent was to inflame racial hatreds, but it *does* have the potential to cause offence to some people who are quite sensitive about their country. (I concede that if the title of the thread had been "Top 10 Reasons To Hate The US" I would have received many, MANY more complaints - maybe Brits in general are just less sensitive to criticism of their country ). Not the smartest thing to do. Some people can laugh and have a self-deprecating look at their country, others can be very sensitive. Don't do it again, to ANYONE's country, ok?

I'm locking this thread now to avoid further flaming and would ask those involved to not revisit the topic again.
