I want to submit something into the Arts forum. Well, but my scanner has as much of a brain as the chair I'm sitting on and that's a censored fact.
Anyway, I got the thing installed to my computer. But now when I press on the 'Scan' button, it says 'Unable to open file.' I suspect it refers to the 'Link scanned images to: C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe' but the program itself works! So, if you know, could you tell me what might be the problem? I apologize if I said the wrong information, I'm not much of an IT person. Thanks in advance. Edit: I removed a word that is not allowed to be used on this forum. Does it actually start scanning and do the scan just can't open the image? Or does it not scan at all?
Have you tried linking to a different image viewer program? Although Irfanview is the best free one out there...

umm, have you tried going to the web site, and downloading an update for your scanner?
sometimes there might be a file that is corrupted, and just needs to be replaced [ 05-19-2004, 11:42 AM: Message edited by: Stormymystic ]

Let me see... click on shotcut, program fail, but you claim the EXE file works, is that right?
Simple, just go to the folder where the EXE file is located and do a right click. Select "create shortcut". A shotcut will appear. Now right click on the shortcut and select "cut". Go to your desktop (or any other place you like) and do press CTRL+V (that is the keyboard command for "paste"). The shortcut will be pasted there. Now left click on the shortcut and see if it run.

YES!! I got it!
Thanks, Stormymystic and Paladin2000, but the update didn't change anything and the shortcut worked. I found out that the idiot was no other than myself. In the program, there was another page of settings, in which a 'Saves the scanned image and opens the image by a selected program' link was blank. Well, anyway, I had to link to Irfanview in 2 spots, as opposed to one. What's done is done, the outcome is all the same. I'll be scanning now. See you all later and thanks! |
